Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

In 2007, Jeep unveiled its new four-door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.  You can now have all of the open-air freedom of a traditional Jeep with the benefits of added room and comfort. 

The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited offers greater stability and comfort by making the car much larger.  A traditional Wrangler comes with a 95.4 inch wheelbase.  They have stretched the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited to a 116-inch wheelbase.  The additional length allows for a larger rear seat with seating for three passengers making the total seating capacity five passengers!  Along with the additional seating, the Jeep Unlimited offers more hip, leg, and shoulder room and nearly triple the rear cargo space.  The additional cargo space is a huge help for vacationers traveling with baggage too and from the airport.

The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited retains the open air features of the traditional Jeep Wrangler thus allowing for a memorable, open air tropical experience.  The front window is of the fold-down variety and the top is still removable.  The “Sunrider” soft top includes a new sun roof feature as well as the full top down option.  Please remember to attach the top prior to returning your rental to avoid an additional charge for re-installment.

I am often told by my clients that the traditional Jeep Wrangler is a lot of fun but suffers from a rough ride.  The new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited also offers a more refined on-road experience.  This is due to its extended 116 inch frame, all-new 100 percent stiffer frame, 50 percent stiffer body and refined five-link coil suspension.  Lastly, and maybe most importantly, the Jeep Unlimited carries lower suspension spring rates to provide a softer, more comfortable ride.

The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is powered by V-6 engine which produces an acceptable 285 horsepower.  Fine for getting up those winding mountain roads to view a sunrise at the top of Maui’s sleeping volcano, Haleakala.  While the new 3.8 liter engine is said to be “more fuel efficient” it is still only rated at 18 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway by the EPA.

So at the end of the day, you can get that open-air experience Jeep experience with a more refined and comfortable handling package, four-doors and seating for five with more room for yourself and your luggage. 

Currently, the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited can be rented from all major rental agencies throughout Hawaii.  However, most of them do not reserve them in advance.  Rather, they treat them as an upgrade at time of pick up making both your reservation and price an unknown.  There is a solution to this now.  Both Avis (Brand A)and Budget (Brand B) now allow us to reserve the 4 door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited in advance and at very reasonable rates!
